CNI-XINHUA market classification standard classifies markets into developed market, emerging market (further classified into advanced emerging market and secondary emerging market), frontier market and standalone market based on macro economy， securities market capacity, investment environment and market cooperation, providing an internationally comparable, investment-oriented, objective and transparent financial standard, which lays the foundation for an open, inclusive and independent global index system.

CNI-XINHUA market classification standard currently covers 92 securities markets, including 24 developed markets, 28 emerging markets (16 advanced emerging markets and 12 secondary emerging markets), 23 frontier markets and 17 standalone markets.
