SSI Successfully Completes IOSCO Assurance Review——SZSE’s Index Business Reaches a New Level

      Recently, PricewaterhouseCoopers Zhong Tian LLC("PWC") issued an independent assurance report to Shenzhen Securities Information Company Limited ("SSI"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Shenzhen Stock Exchange ("SZSE"), on the response to the financial benchmark priciples of International Organization of Securities Commissions ("IOSCO"). This milstone indicates that SSI’s index governance has reached international standards, and international development of index business has reached a new level.

      SZSE attaches great importance to index work, and focuses on building the core index series of "Shenzhen Component Index + ChiNext Index and Shenzhen 100", strengthening index research and development and index product system construction, giving full play to the role of indices in serving the national strategy, guiding the optimal allocation of resources, attracting medium and long-term capital to market, etc. SSI is the first professional index provider in mainland China and a member of Index Industry Association. Authorized by SZSE, SSI is responsible for managing SZSE Index Series, providing authoritative index tools for analysis and investment in Shenzhen market. SSI has also developed CNI Index Series to build a cross-market index system covering Chinese market and overseas markets. Among those indices, CNI Semiconductor Chips Index, CNI Biomedicine Index, CNI Green Bonds Index Series and etc are highly recognized by the market. SSI also deeply engaged in index cooperation with regional exchanges along the "Belt and Road", and launched the first batch of cross-border co-development indices such as CNI-DSE Select index and CNI-Bursa Malaysia 50 index.

SSI has launched IOSCO assurance work since the end of 2019, engaging independent auditor PWC to conduct assurance on corporate governance structure, internal control, internal control system, supervision and conflict of interest prevention mechanism in accordance with the international regulatory requirements. Through this assurance, the standardization of the SZSE Index Series and CNI Index Series have been further enhanced, and the impartiality and credibility have been further recognized. Relevant leadership of SZSE said that SZSE will take SSI’s compliance with the IOSCO Principles as an opportunity to orderly promote the professional and international development of index business with learning international best practices, provide domestic and overseas investors with higher quality investment targets and technical services, comprehensively enhance the breadth and depth of services to domestic and overseas investors, and better support the high-level two-way opening of China’s capital market.
