Bursa Malaysia, established in 1976, operates within the Southeast Asian capital market system. As a key financial infrastructure in the region, Bursa Malaysia has established a multi-tiered market system, including the Main Market, ACE Market, and LEAP Market, catering to the financing needs of various types of companies. Its product offerings include equities, bonds, ETFs, REITs, and derivatives, serving both domestic and international investors. A notable index is the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, which reflects the overall performance of the Malaysian stock market.
In April 2020, Shenzhen Stock Exchange and Bursa Malaysia signed a memorandum of understanding to advance cooperation, with a focus on index display, joint index development, and index-related product collaboration. The two exchanges aim to promote mutual display of flagship indices, explore cross-market index frameworks and joint ETF development, and expand multi-layered models for cross-border index cooperation. These efforts seek to strengthen market recognition and investment connectivity between China and Malaysia, providing both product and institutional support for deeper integration of the two capital markets.
Shenzhen Stock Exchange (“SZSE”) and Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa”) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) to broaden opportunities in investment and facilitate further cross-boarder collaboration between the two marets. Under the MoU, both exchanges will collaborate on several areas of mutual interest that are aimed to strengthen the tie and promote the flow of investment between the two markets. Among others, it will include the cross promotion of indices to enhance visibility and profile of both the Chinese and Malaysian markets.
